The short version

1.Who we are

Just Shut the Box (com.mani.justshutthebox) is a dice game for Android, published on Google Play by A byte of Everything (Mads Kristensen). In this policy, “we” and “us” mean the developer.

For anything about your data or this policy, email appsbyabyteofeverything@gmail.com.

2.Data kept on your device

The app keeps these on your device:

None of it is sent anywhere. Reset statistics (in Settings, under Your data) clears your record and best scores; it leaves your Remove ads purchase alone.

Clearing the app's storage in Android settings (usually Settings → Apps → Just Shut the Box → Storage → Clear data; the names vary by phone) or uninstalling the app removes everything the app keeps on your device.

3.Advertising

You get three free games a day. After that, you can choose to watch a rewarded video ad for one more game. There are no banner ads and no ads between turns. If you buy Remove ads, the app no longer requests ads and no longer starts Google's advertising software.

Ads are served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google's advertising software in the app may collect your device's advertising ID, your IP address and an approximate location derived from it, general information about your device, and how you interact with the ads. Google handles this data under Google's Privacy Policy; see also how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

The same software also collects basic information about how you use the app, such as app launches and taps, and diagnostic information about how the app and the ads perform, such as app launch time. Google uses this data for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. The software starts when the app opens, so it collects this data even if you never watch an ad.

If you are in a region where the law requires consent, such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent form (the User Messaging Platform) before it requests ads. Your answer decides whether Google may personalise the ads you see. You can review or change it at any time in the app under Settings → Ads & purchases → Ad privacy (shown while ads are on).

4.Purchases

Remove ads is an optional one-time purchase processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment, and we never receive your card or other payment details. The app remembers the purchase on your device, and Google Play keeps its own record of it under your Google account.

The app restores the purchase from Google Play when it starts.

Google Play gives us a record of each Remove ads order, with details such as the order number, the product and the time, but never your card or other payment details. We keep these records to track sales and refunds.

5.Other connections the app makes

The app has no network code of its own and sends nothing to us. Besides ads, it connects to:

We have added no analytics or crash-reporting software to the app.

6.Sharing and selling

We do not sell your personal information.

We hold no data about you other than the Remove ads purchase record described above and any email you send us; there is no account. While ads are on, your advertising ID and the other ad data described above go to Google. Google also provides the purchases and rating dialog (and, before version 2.5.5, the fonts), as described above. Nothing else is shared with anyone.

In the terms of Google Play's Data safety section, the app collects and shares, through Google's AdMob software: device or other IDs (your advertising ID and app set ID), approximate location (from your IP address), app interactions and diagnostics. These are used for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention, and are collected while ads are on.

7.Security and retention

We keep no data about you other than the Remove ads purchase record described above and any email you send us. Everything the game stores stays on your device until you clear it.

8.Your choices and deleting your data

There is no account to delete. Everything the app keeps is on your device, where the steps above remove it. The Remove ads purchase record stays with Google Play and in our sales records.

Your rights. Under data protection law (the GDPR) you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or give it to you in a machine-readable format. Where the app asks for your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, as described above. Email appsbyabyteofeverything@gmail.com to use any of these rights; we answer within one month. You can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet) or to the data protection authority where you live.

9.Children

Just Shut the Box is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10.Changes to this policy

If the way Just Shut the Box handles data changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top.

11.Contact

Questions about this policy or about the app: email appsbyabyteofeverything@gmail.com. If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, and we use them only to answer you.

An email started from Help & feedback in the app's Settings is pre-filled with the app version, your phone model, Android version and WebView version. You can edit or remove them before sending.

The Discord row in Help & feedback opens a page on this website. Once the Just series has a Discord server, that row leads to Discord, an external service run by Discord Inc. under its own privacy policy. The app sends Discord nothing.
